But it is lighter than packing in four sawyers and four handsaws.
Says the guy who got kicked out of a wilderness area for carrying a chainsaw.
Thus proving it's hard to say no when it's just being pulled on a sled anyway. I can't blame anyone for wanting a nice fire while winter camping though.
"Says the guy who got kicked out of a wilderness area for carrying a chainsaw."
They should have Chainsaw Tuesdays to let the crews catch up on trail maintenance.
"But it is lighter than packing in four sawyers and four handsaws."
Or 8 cords of wood.
…reminds me of my PCT professional trail building days in 1980. We used a Stihl chainsaw, even where the USFS said we could not. But the boss made us hide it from the rangers.
Well, after flying back to PA at the end of the summer I get a call from the boss.
"Eric?"
"Yeah, hi Bruce:
"You remember out Stihl chainsaw?"
"Yeah. What's up?"
"Well, do you remember where you saw it last?"
"Uh, yeah, back at camp under a water bar bench."
"You SURE?"
"Yeah Bruce. Did you lose it?"
"Yes, it seems so."
And to this day they never found it.
>"And to this day they never found it."
So after a total of 132 years, someone will find and it will be semi-national news:
"Archaeologists have found a 132-year-old rifle propped against a tree in Nevada's Great Basin National Park. It is unclear exactly how long the Winchester rifle had been left there, but it was long enough to leave the stock cracked and buried in dirt. Ms Andler said the gun might have been overlooked in the past because the grey stock of the wood blended in with the tree. The gun will be preserved in its current state and put on display at the park."
