I am looking to do some fishing this summer in the sierras. I will spend a few days at Virginia Lake. Does anyone know if the fishing is good there or any lake nearby?
    Thanks
    Eric

Do you mean Virginia Lakes, west of Mono Lake? Or that one near Duck Lake?

If it's the former, it's (supposed to be) very good. Don't know about the other one. Just getting back into fishing myself.

I fished Deer Lk (the lower one at the end of the official trail from Mammoth). No fish, don't recall seeing any.

Also, Pica Lk. Saw fish, didn't catch any. My friend caught one.

Purple Lk, halfway to Virginia, had lots of small fish. Caught a few. Brookies, as I recall.

I also saw trout in the outlet from the uppermost lake just below Duck Pass.

    This was mid-September last fall.

I saw lots of fish at Purple Lake while doing the JMT last Sept. I left them all for you.

There is a ton of fish all around that area. We've got plenty on the last trip in that part of sierras. Trout is in small streams, small and large lakes… just everywhere.
