    A complaint and a question.

While this has already been addressed on other threads, I think it's low class to sell zero advertisements as an incentive to sell lifetime memberships and then renege on that promise. I'm respectfully asking those who run this website to do the right thing and stand by your word. Please modify the forum accordingly.

As many of the advertisements were obnoxious, I ended up installing an ad blocker on my Mac which is doing the job relatively well for Google Chrome. Not a perfect solution as I don't get to see BPL's promotions for the weekly articles and occasional promotions.

I am however still getting ads on my tablet. Does anyone here have an ad blocker that they would recommend for IOS and Android? I normally use Chrome if that makes a difference.

What are you saying? You DON't want to date Russian Girls?

(Just one of the random ADS I saw before posting….)

I'm not exactly sure what I searched along the way that put me on this list but Google ads and my junk mail seem to indicate that I'm in the market for a "sugar momma"

I tend to get one or two solicitations to join Senior Singles every week sent to my junk box; I'm 43 and not joking.

I should mention that "junk box" in this particular case is not a euphemism for anything.

So far the "Ad Blocker" ap for iPhone seems to be working the same as it does on my Mac. I can't see the weekly promotions on BPL but the ads seem to be gone. I'll try Android next.

Spoke too soon. Still seeing ads when clicking on the individual threads when using ios. I sent an email to the ap developer to see if there was a way to block the ads.

    To be continued…

Funny. I sent a note to customer service about this very issue a few months ago. A couple of months after I sent the email, I got a response, which simply said that MLIFErs receive reduced ads, not NO ads. I don't remember that being the deal when I signed up for MLIFE, so I went to the subscription page to check, and it does say (at least now) that there will be reduced ads. Doesn't say no ads.

    "Doesn't say no ads."

I switched to MLife shortly after the ads arrived. At the time, BPL advertised no ads for MLifers.

I'm fine keeping my MLife membership either way just wish BPL would stand by its word as they are obnoxious.

1st world problems I didn't have when I put myself in smartphone time out.

Try Weblock for iOS. It only works for WiFi, not cell data.

Well not surprised but the ap is fine but the user… not so much.

I made the incorrect assumption that once I downloaded the ap, that it would somehow update Safari and Chrome with a plugin to block ads.

Turns out I was supposed to use the ULR bar within the ap to block ads. Once I did this, it works like a charm. No adds on any page.

This is why they only let me use blunt scissors at work and they chain them to the desk to prevent me from running with them.

One benefit is that the website now seems to be more responsive and loads faster. Supposedly I'll use less data now too which makes sense.

I haven't tried this on my android device yet but will later.

I think the next step is to download a decent firewall to take care of the data mining. There are quite a few for ios. Any recommendations?

Looking at BPL tonight with a new device and no ad blocker, I'm pleased to see no racy ads that I'd be embarrassed for my kids to see.

Define racy. I just had an ad that suggested I trim my package.

Dang I spoke too soon. I flipped through several threads and most of the ads were backpacking related and the ones that weren't were unobjectionable stuff like luggage. Then I just saw another "sugar momma" ad so apparently not quite there yet.

I swear, visit Cougars gone wild website once and Google ads thinks they know you…

    More of the same

Opened up a ticket to have ads like this one and the suger momma one removed today. Let's see if anything happens.

To block ads on iOS, you will need to use a third party web browser. The ad blocking takes place within the browser. Take a look at Atomic Web Browser or Adblock Plus for iOS.

Just post a copy of the image in the Beyond our Boundaries Article.

    You'll get someone's attention.
If not, I'll flag it for you. Let me know.

I almost got burned at the local library. Really happy no one was walking behind me at the time.

    Here's the sequence of events…

Santa brought me an iPad mini
I turned on the cloud for the first time
I didn't realize that my saved pictures would be viewable on other iOS devices in my house belonging to my wife and kids
I took a screen shot of the "Meet Asian ladies" advertisement so I could post it here and submit it with my ticket…

…you know where I'm going with this.

I noticed that there is no Companion Thread with "Boundaries".

There has to be a way to get this addressed…
