    Locale: Oregon PNW

I've owned this tent since September of 2011. I bought it from Ron at PCT days at Cascade Locks, OR. It has been my primary 3 season shelter since then. I've taken it on numerous trips to Mt. Hood, Columbia River Gorge, and Three Sisters, in Oregon; and various trips to Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, Goat Rocks, and a couple of multi-day trips in the Glacier Peak area in Washington.

It has performed well in all conditions including stout winds and a few days of rain on my last trip to Glacier Peak. The Trekker is the Sil-nylon version of this tent priced at $225. The Scout is made of 190T polyester and is $125. The X is Cuben and $565. On my scales the Trekker weighs 1 lb. 12 ozs. including 6 Easton stakes and a Polycryo groundsheet. Stakes and groundsheet not included with the tent.

The Trekker is a roomy one person shelter that sets up with 5 stakes and 2 trekking poles or Ron will sell you a set of carbon fiber poles (1.8 oz. each) for $30 each. By pulling the side stakes you can roll back all 4 sides and use it as a net tent. With 5 stakes you can still roll up two sides. It sets up very solidly with a minimum of flap in the wind. There is one side entrance and a decent sized vestibule that has held my pack and shoes. I haven't had any issues with the cross bar. I can put all my gear including my pack inside and have room for me to sleep comfortably. I'm 5' 7".

It doesn't have a small footprint but it isn't excessively huge either. The set-up is a bit of a learned skill best practiced at home before hitting the trail. There is a good video on the SMD web-site.

Ventilation is good but it is Syl-nylon. On my Glacier Peak trip I was rained on for two days and nights. The tent was still wet on the second nights set-up and I experienced some misting due to condensation. The internal netting kept this to a minimum.

Overall I highly recommend this tent. The combination of space, versatility, value, and weight make this a hard to beat package IMHO. It has stood up to PNW weather and conditions which is a pretty vigorous test. It doesnt take up much room in a pack and I really like the green color. More details are available at the SMD web-site.
