We've selected our next hike. The Alpe Adria Trail. It's a low-level route from the Adriatic Sea to the Austrian Alps, low enough that we can do it in the spring, when the high mountains are still snowed in.
The route passes through Slovenia, Italy, and Austria – shown in detail in our CalTopo map.
Here's what we were looking for:
Diverse habitat and scenery
Reasonable temperatures and precipitation
April-May-June timeframe
400-600 miles on a well documented route (or combination of routes)
A region that would be new to us
We are excited! If anybody out there is familiar with the route, or pieces of the route, we're happy to hear any and all advice.
