Hey BPL,
I've sent in two requests to have my forum nickname changed. The fist request was made nearly a month ago. I just want my nickname changed from "T-Funk" to "T.L." sans quotes.Mar 13, 2013 at 1:41 pm #1965166Did you file a support ticket? Send a PM to Daniel.
Mar 13, 2013 at 1:45 pm #1965167With all the angst of changing it, can you come up with something more creative?
:)
Mar 13, 2013 at 1:50 pm #1965172Did you completely lose the funk or are you just keeping your funkiness private?
Personally, I'm always looking for more. Don't be ashamed of the funk.
Good luck brother.
Mar 13, 2013 at 1:56 pm #1965174LOL, guys!
Ken, yeah, I filed two tickets. I'll try Daniel.
Nick and Craig: ah, that nickname comes from when I was about 12. That's when hiphop and rap were starting to make its way into more mainstream culture and so we gave each other nicknames. He was G-Rod and I was T-Funk.
If I get a real trail name, I'll switch it to that. :)
Mar 13, 2013 at 2:11 pm #1965182Travis was actually first called T-Rex, given his abnormally short arms and large head. That changed when his homies found out his ability to slide through sticky situations. His name was then changed to T-Fal. After following the singer / rapper T-Boz for many years, lamenting that he was 'just not her type,' he changed his name to T-Funk hoping to spur a love connection.
Alas, it was not to be.
I think your trail name should be T-Mobile.
Mar 13, 2013 at 2:19 pm #1965184David, LOVE It!
Mar 13, 2013 at 2:24 pm #1965187"that nickname comes from when I was about 12. That's when hiphop and rap were starting to make its way into more mainstream culture and so we gave each other nicknames."
Hmmm. That would make my nickname something like Wolfgang Mozart.

Mar 13, 2013 at 4:30 pm #1965254Bob, you're on a roll today! :)
Mar 13, 2013 at 4:33 pm #1965258"on a roll"
I'm not on a roll, but when I get too hungry from backpacking, I am like a hobo on a muffin.

Mar 13, 2013 at 5:16 pm #1965274I like T M – Travis Leanna ™
Mar 13, 2013 at 5:46 pm #1965281How about "The funky Packrafter"
Mar 13, 2013 at 8:46 pm #1965348You guys crack me up.
Mar 18, 2013 at 8:32 am #1966957I know you're all busy, but changing a nickname cant take that much time.
Mar 18, 2013 at 11:04 am #1967005Poor Travis… A nickname is forever, didn't you know?
Mar 18, 2013 at 12:48 pm #1967058Yeah… There is no funky violin.
Obv funky drummer, funky guitar, even funky flute. (thanks Maceo)… But no funky violin.
:P
I say keep it. If you keep your nickname we can tell who you are no matter your avatar or name
Mar 18, 2013 at 1:21 pm #1967071There is funky viola, however.
See: Flobots.Mar 18, 2013 at 1:28 pm #1967073Maybe I should have donated to the Packrafting Kickstarter project.
Mar 18, 2013 at 1:53 pm #1967082I thought that a nickname is given to you
You have no choice in the matter
Maybe that's why there's no response
Mar 18, 2013 at 2:06 pm #1967086"I thought that a nickname is given to you. You have no choice in the matter. Maybe that's why there's no response"
You thought wrong. When you create an account, you choose a username and password (your username is what Travis is calling his nickname). Your choice. While there is a mechanism to change your billing name and address on your own (which is the name that shows in front of your username), there is no mechanism, it seems, to change your username on your own.
Mar 18, 2013 at 3:07 pm #1967105My understanding is that your "trail name" has to be given to you. Nicknames, you can change yours daily. Right, Li'l Dougie, lover of chaff and all things good and decent?
Mar 18, 2013 at 6:00 pm #1967165Then I think other people should be allowed to change your "user name" but not you
Except I guess once you get a trail name, you're stuck with it in perpetuem
Mar 18, 2013 at 7:52 pm #1967244Why do people want to change their name to Nick? There are all ready too many people here with the name Nick.
I also don't get trail names. I try to avoid people on trails, so a trail name is not needed.
So you don't need to call me Ray or Jay, you can just call me Nick.
Mar 18, 2013 at 7:59 pm #1967247I don't see myself getting a real trail name anytime soon, as I don't really hike on the big trails where people seem to get them.

Jeff says: "Amen, Brother"
