Nov 7, 2006 at 2:57 pm #1366455How about a rough volume? Snow melter lighter than the Trianga 1L (sans lid)?
Nov 7, 2006 at 9:16 pm #1366491The one in the photo is the ‘lil one: 550 ml. The kettle weighs 54 g (1.9 oz) and the lid weighs 12 g (0.4 oz).
Nov 7, 2006 at 11:16 pm #1366496Cool! Sounds like it’s time to retire my beer can cook pot.
Nov 8, 2006 at 6:53 am #1366516Sweet… very nice looking.
Is there a Ti Pot-lifter in the works as well? Or is this a folded handkerchief product?
Nov 8, 2006 at 10:33 am #1366530We are working on a titanium pot lifter. The prototypes are about 0.3 oz. They won’t be available til after the first of the year.
Nov 8, 2006 at 10:52 am #1366533Ooooh, shiny!
Looks great; look forward to more details. Has anybody else noticed it takes titanium to get guys interested in cookware?
Just sayin’
Nov 8, 2006 at 10:58 am #1366534Is any larger version in the works or just the small guy for now?
Nov 8, 2006 at 11:32 am #1366535>> Is any larger version in the works or just the small guy for now?
We’ll have a 900-1000 ml cookset and a 1300 ml cookset.
Nov 8, 2006 at 11:56 am #1366536Sweet…
Nov 8, 2006 at 12:57 pm #1366542Darn Ryan, more money for me to spend!! Looks great as always!!
Nov 8, 2006 at 1:11 pm #1366543Your timing is perfect. I was about to buy a Snowpeak Trek 1400 for a trip in January. Now I can get a BPL one for Christmas. Will there be measurement markings? It’s not a deal breaker by any means, but it might be nice. Also, provide a way for the little handle on the lid to stick up. A little notch in the metal that holds the handle on would do the trick. Will the rim be substantial enough to use a wind screen like the Caldera Cone?
As an aside, if you have someone doing titanium manufacturing for you, have you thought of trowels?
Nov 8, 2006 at 2:45 pm #1366554Hi Eric, the handle lid is supposed to stand up, yes! I haven’t seen the final production model yet, so…who knows, version 1 you know!
Yes, we’re doing trowels. That will be a spring 07 item.
Nov 8, 2006 at 2:53 pm #1366556Great news all around! I know several gentlemen who asked me to make trowels for them who will be pleased. It was more work than I was willing to do.
Nov 13, 2006 at 9:49 am #1366956yeeehaw! i suspect them trowels will sell out quickly.
Nov 13, 2006 at 11:05 am #1366959Seems every time a nice new product is available someone always has another idea. My turn. Any chance that the kettle might be made with an old-fashioned bail? They are:
– Light!
– Take up little space
– Usually won’t get too hot if they stay upright, but a bandana solves the problem anyway
– Make pouring easy
– Attached!
– Did I mention they are attached? One less thing to keep track of.Am I the only one that thinks that overhead bails are near perfect?
Nov 13, 2006 at 11:16 am #1366961I love bails, Paul. I’ve added bails to a bunch of my small pots using the BPL Ti rods. It’s a good way to go if you cook over a fire or a stove with big flames, like some alcohol stoves.
Nov 13, 2006 at 5:02 pm #1367017“”Am I the only one that thinks that overhead bails are near perfect?””
No.
As you say,
they are lighter than folding handles and pot lifters.
They don’t get hot.
They don’t get lost.
They are compact.
They do everything all the other gadgets try to do. So there’s two of us. Lets have a revolution!Nov 13, 2006 at 6:07 pm #1367027If you go back to the Fosters Beer Can – Cook Pot Thread you will see a really light weight Bail on mine. The Bail is the way.
Nov 14, 2006 at 1:26 pm #1367140It would be easy to make a removable bail too– just a circle of wire that jams up against the lip of the pot to attach the bail to.

Good thought. I’ll try that out to see how it works.
I’ve punched bail holes in my pots before but don’t like the boil-through you get. You effectively reduce the volume of your container. Yeah it’s minor but I feel like I’m introducing a defect.
Nov 20, 2006 at 2:32 pm #1367770This product is now available, in versions with and without a handle. The version without the handle is only available to Premium Members at this time due to very limited availability.

Nov 20, 2006 at 5:40 pm #1367794How well does the new mug fit into the BPL Ti esbit wing stove? Im assuming its a perfect fit, but just wanted to ask. Any pics?
Nov 20, 2006 at 6:06 pm #1367798According to the web page it “s sized to fit the FireLite Titanium Folding Stove” see here
