    I have been trying to drop a couple of pounds here and there by purchasing different items I find on the gear swap. Recently I reteired my old MSR pot and cover (you don't even want to know what it weighed) for the firelight 550 SUL (no handles). first issue, how do I get this thing off the stove? If I use the pot grippers from the old cooking system I just doubled the weight of the pot. Thats not moving in the right direction. So what do all you SUL backpackers uses?

    Thats odd! No handles of any kind.

    I would drill two holes in the top to add a bail handle made from thin gauage wire.

    bandana works or a glove – but you really have to pay attention

    Victor,

    Here is a picture of myself hold my SP 700 with ~20 oz of water using a pot gripper I fashioned in about 30 seconds. I got the idea from Zen Stoves. You have to scroll down a bit.

    Pouring was tricky, but as you can see, I didn't spend any time refining the curve to contour to the pot.

    It weighs .6 oz exactly on my scale before doing any trimming.

    I bet a light pair of gloves would work well too, as suggested.

    I just ordered a Trappers Mug, and I don't believe it has enough of a lip to use the coat hanger, so I'll have to test the glove/bandana method when it arrives.

    I can't seem to find the measurements for the litelifters. Does anyone know if these will fit inside the firelite 550?

    @feather

    Victor, yes the MSR Litelifter will barely fit in the Firelite 550 pot with the lid on.
