BPL: When, if ever, are you going to carry the Firelite 900 cook pot again?

I agree. Also the trapper's mug.

900: Hard to say. Possibly never.

    Trappers: Winter or spring 2010.

Why not simply remove the items from the shop that are not going to be carried anymore?

If we no longer carry a piece of gear we do remove it from the Gear Shop.

Doesn't it appear that BPL is closing down the store? It seems like everything I've wanted to order has been out of stock, for a very long time.

I think they are "weathering" the economic storm by lowering inventory levels. You have to realize that on many of the products they have to buy (or have produced) in bulk which ties up a lot of money in inventory that may or may not sell for a while.

As for the Firelite 900 pots, it sounds like they are trying to decide whether to reorder this item or not, not that they absolutely are not going to carry this product again. I imagine if enough people show interest by clicking the "email me a stock alert" link they would re-order. It was probably an item that was a slow seller and they are trying to figure out if it is worth keeping.

There are some products that I am interested in, yet they are never in stock. I would rather they not even be listed until they are in stock instead of clicking on their picture and always showing "out of stock and not available for pre purchase at this time".

Luckily I've been able to find most of the items I wanted elsewhere.

The Vargo/Brasslite 900 as well as the Tibetan 900 are also unavailable after being on sale for quite awhile earlier this year. So Sam's comment of, "possibly never," portends of a planned indefinite discontinuance of this pot for some reason. Guess it doesn't matter, since it is unavailable and several other pot sizes are being promoted by Evernew and MLD and their affiliates.

We have been trimming inventory aggressively as we go into these last few months of 2009, for a few reasons.

First, we're trying to free up some cash to fund a whole slew of new projects for 2010, including the pack, new titanium cookware, new apparel, new shelters, new quilts, and yes — new cocoons!

Second, we're moving our warehouse back to Bozeman in early January. Having it down in California had its advantages (close to port), but was fraught with disadvantages that were frustrating. Not being able to be in the same room as your inventory really bit the big one, for us as inventory managers, and for you as customers who wanted technical info, measurements, etc.

So, I'm excited to bring the goodies back to Bozeman. We're planning on that happening in early January, so you can expect us to pretty much blow everything out during the year end sale Dec 26-31, so I don't have to ship it back.

We've already started the process of stocking up here in Bozeman, so the transition will be pretty seamless.

In addition, we plan on eliminating a lot of the third party products, that didn't sell well anyways, and reinvesting that cash into our own house brands, which I'd really like to KEEP in stock for 2010!

    As for the titanium.

We are transitioning some of the production to another factory, and are bringing out a few new pots that will be much higher quality, and aesthetically, much nicer.

The new pots (to include a 550-ish and a 900-ish) *should* be available April 2, and will be available for prepurchase in March.

Trapper mugs will be here sooner than that, shortly after the first of the year.

    Hi Ryan!

Will there be Caldera Cones to fit the new pots at launch (hint hint ;-)

That sounds great Ryan, Thanks for sharing. Are the 3rd party products things like Aquamira that we can buy about anywhere or things like the Possumdown garments that are unique items? If they are some of the more obscure items it would be nice if you would provide some more information so that we can still (hopefully) be able to purchase from another source if possible.

Brad–not finalized yet on the 3rd party stuff, but the items that are core items for lightweighters like Aqua Mira and PossumDown will probably stay here.

I finally purchased one of these Firelite 900's. I think the new model is slightly heavier than the older model but it is definately cool!
