Hi everyone. I finally finished my first website! Originally, I wanted to make a more comprehensive site covering a range of topics on gear but my space was limited to 50 megs and I really don’t know anything about making websites. So this first one was kind of a learning process for me. I plan on making more topic-specific sites like this one in the near future rather than one big comprehensive site (basically because I can do it for free). Please take a minute to check it out and let me know what you think. Any comments, insights, or criticism would be greatly appreciated! IMPORTANT: please make sure your browser window is maximized otherwise everything will shift over to the left.
Here’s the site: http://www.freewebs.com/jasonklass/index.htm
Cheers,
JasonFeb 7, 2006 at 3:31 pm #1350111Jason, Why don’t you just start a BLOG? They are free, they have a bunch of formats that you just fill in your comments, projects complete with lots of pictures, lots of space and did I say they were free. I have two started using
Blogger.comI am going to slowly get everything I have written about “make your own gear” moved to my BLOG.
Feb 7, 2006 at 4:59 pm #1350117Bill, One question. When you say “moved”, do you me that you will also be leaving your existing posts here intact as they are, and making copies in you Blog, or will you be modifying your existing posts, removing their current content and pointing us via a hyperlink to your Blog?
Feb 7, 2006 at 5:17 pm #1350119Hi PJ, YES,
NO – fooled you.
When I said move I don’t mean take away. I guess I should have said copy to. I have lost some posts at sites that ran out of memory or changed formats. I want to get everything in one spot that I have a little control over. I can then backup everything so I don’t lose it.The BLOG will be used to save everything about a project and what I post other places will just have a few pictures and a link to the BLOG. I want to reduce the amout of paper I generate and get stuff in a format that is easier for me to find.
Feb 7, 2006 at 5:26 pm #1350120Bill, Good to know. Thanks for explaining. Glad we’re not loosing you. I always read intently your posts to see what you’re up to next. It’s very interesting to see that some of what you were working on appears to be incorprated into the multi-fuel aspects of the Coleman Fyrestorm. Coleman should have you on retainer.
Feb 8, 2006 at 4:52 am #1350144I tried the link at 7:45 am EST today, but got this message below.
Tom“Freewebs Site Temporarily Frozen
We are sorry, this site is unavailable because it has used up its monthly bandwidth. Please try back another time.”Feb 8, 2006 at 9:38 am #1350154I just added 20 gigs so it should be working now.
