After a 3 week break it is definitely high time for Tater Tuesday!
Todays recipe uses "Beef" flavored TVP from Harmony House Foods, though you can use home dried hamburger gravel as well. For the malt vinegar you want the type you sprinkle on fish & chips.
"Beef" & Shroom Malt Taters:
In a quart freezer bag put:
3/4 cup instant mashed potatoes
2 Tbsp dry milk
2 Tbsp "Beef" TVP
2 Tbsp crumbled dried mushrooms
1 Tbsp shelf stable Parmesan cheese
1/4 tsp dried garlic
Couple grinds black pepper
Also take:
1 tsp malt vinegar
1 Tbsp oil
Add 1 1/2 cups boiling water and the oil/vinegar. Stir well and put in a cozy for 5-10 minutes. Stir again and enjoy.
Serves 1.
Note: to make stiffer you can cut the water back by 1-2 Tbsp less.
Well, there's always next Tuesday.
I have put my (unopened) quart jug of dried mushrooms from Harmony House Foods in a bag with your name on it. If we ever meet, it's yours! I won't be going to the Winter Trails Fest this Saturday to meet you after all. I can't talk my one available hiking friend into doing a Friday/Saturday overnighter at Snoqualmie, so we're doing a lame snowshoe day-hike instead a bit closer in to town.
Lol…I was thinking of you when I did this recipe. I promise shroom free next week ;-)
I was hoping you'd make it up there for the day…oh well! I got out of driving – Hoosierdaddy is driving us all up. We are going for the day. If you do get up there, he drives a white Suburban that has a "PNWH" and a Mtneers sticker on the back of it.
I cannot get anyone to overnight right now. For some reason they all claim it is cold or something ;-)
