I just want to say that the current shenanigans in the Gear Deals forum remind me very strongly of the dress code at my daughter's middle school: an incomprehensible mishmash of overly-specific rules that are then enforced in a completely arbitrary manner so that no one knows what the real rules are other than "I'm in charge, you're not, that settles it."
It's dumb there and it's dumb here.
But I do feel like I'm getting better entertainment value out of my membership dollars here than I would have from a season pass at the movies.
Like when Chaff was on the main forums page. Always this type of "entertainment". It's a mess in the aforementioned thread.
Not that you have any reason to care about my feelings, but for many people, hearing the word "retarded" used as a pejorative is like a knife to the heart. I'm not PC by any means, but you really have no idea how many people on here have loved ones who have down syndrome or are otherwise developmentally delayed.
Just something to consider.
Ian – my sincere apologies. That was a dumb mistake on my part with no possible excuse. Original post edited.
No worries man. Much appreciated.
Seems much could be solved by offering yet another forum. Perhaps a "Product Development" thread or similiar for Kickstarter projects, cottage venders and such. They may not always be deals, they are still of interest. If they are not written as advertisements, there should be no problem. Outfits like Gearbest, who post regular ads, should be placed in a seperate section that is totally supported by these outfits.
