I ended up going very "Non Backpacking light" with an Exped Downmat TT 9 LW. Nice and warm. Very comfortable, different than a standard Exped or a Thermarest since the tubes are separate. Light? Nope but something I can live with.

Hey Richard, I am the same boat (or is that tent) as you, as I ended up getting a Synmat 9 Lw as my winter pad.

I've had my reg. Xtherm a couple winters now, only using it on snow or dead of winter. Coupled with a torso length GG Nightlight and Sitlight pads I've been good to go. Less bulk and weight than my previous Exped DAM 9 with blue CCF pad set up. For me, the Xtherms tubes work better for my old shoulders and hips. Duane

I have been contemplating the Downmat TT 9 as well for a few reasons: * Edge to edge insulation as far as I can tell * No thicker "rail" edges, so a pair should mate nicely * Should be quite warm * Tried an XLite and didn't like it, XTherm Max is compelling but I prefer long baffles on an inflatable * Maybe less prone to baffle failure? Am thinking now about just layering up enough CCF to have R5.0+ in the winter. Leaky pads really annoy me, and any inflatable seems problem-prone. Comfort-wise my favorite pad is the Prolite Plus but it is not available in a large 25×77 rectangular format. There is the Nemo Tuo but it is heavy. XTherm has a ton of good reviews and is very light…
