Yet Billy you have time to post, with nothing to add to this discussion, good job.
Apr 19, 2015 at 3:15 pm #2193194"…nothing to add to this discussion, good job."
That's your opinion Ken…
I may have just saved the world… Perhaps someone read my comment and woke up to the fact that this thread is a wast of time. Then went out and invented something or did something constructive that will save the world…

Apr 19, 2015 at 4:15 pm #2193214I just saved the world from a spicy bratwurst.
having to pee at night in the rain sucks too
Apr 19, 2015 at 4:37 pm #2193219So Billy what is your least favorite part of packing your gear? Mattress, shelter, keyboard? I would have responded sooner but I was in the park walking my dog on a beautiful spring afternoon watching the redwoods sway in the lovely breeze. The World seems fine there. Oh, and there's wifi.
Brats, yum. You ever pack those in Jeff? A pee bottle, try it, you'll like it.
See you both in Chaff.
Apr 19, 2015 at 5:10 pm #2193233> A pee bottle, try it, you'll like it.
I've peed in my cook pot. Probably not that hygienic but I swear the pee really dissolves burnt on pasta.
Apr 19, 2015 at 5:12 pm #2193234Note to self, share meals with Piper at your own risk, lol.
Apr 19, 2015 at 5:33 pm #2193247Piper! Holy crap! Or…. Holy pee.
Yeah I have a pee bottle. I always leave it at home unless it straight up snow camping. Now that I think about it – that's backwards. Snow can hide all sorts of stuff.
My wife looooves it when I'm using the pee bottle 18" from her head. Lol. For real though I have a Platy for mine… Too much concentration needed. Need to get a wide mouth softie
Apr 19, 2015 at 5:36 pm #2193249Hands and knees and let gravity do its thing while you are doing yours. Don't even need to get up from under the covers. I use a rigid Snapple bottle.
Apr 20, 2015 at 10:39 am #2193403My portable TV is a pain, mostly because it's heavy, and the antenna sticks out the sides when it's strapped to my pack.

Just NOT you, apparently. We all have our own overwhelming stupidity to blame for our waste of time, but what is your excuse for not being enlightened by your own epiphany?
My own personal #1 packing complaint is similar to Piper's – the lack of a compressible pot – I think there should be some technology invented to help with this. It always seems like the rigid man out at the end of the packing process – the proverbial round peg in a square hole. About a year ago I cut down my jetboil making it a closer approximation to a sphere, and this made things a LOT easier. From this experience I'm thinking the next step is the nerf cook pot.
Apr 20, 2015 at 9:07 pm #2193562No complaints here. We are fortunate to be able to backpacking.
Apr 20, 2015 at 9:18 pm #2193568The cook pot. Trail Designs have solved that for me with the sidewinder cone. Now everything fits inside the pot itself except for the fuel bottle that I like to pack on the outside anyway. Goes in between the sleeping bag and the misc. bag, or inside the bear canister.
Apr 21, 2015 at 9:29 am #2193638It used to be the wet tent until I started using a hammock/tarp setup or a tarp/net tent set up. With either of these systems all is packed dry before I leave the comfort under the tarp and it's then packed on the outside.
Now it's definitely the air mattress when I use a tent which is part of the reason I love the hammock setup.
Apr 21, 2015 at 12:38 pm #2193671I guess, if I have to pick something as a complaint, it's working around the bear can.
@Piper: LOL.Apr 23, 2015 at 6:12 am #2194021Ken – Sea to Summit has solved your problem, with a collapsible cookpot. But it weighs more.

I'm not sure how well they work because I don't own one, but it seems like an interesting idea, especially for larger group cooking scenarios.
Apr 23, 2015 at 6:24 am #2194024Jeff Like I said above Trail Designs solved the cookpot problem do me. I really don't suffer through any of packing up.
Apr 24, 2015 at 3:23 pm #2194411> Piper! Holy crap! Or…. Holy pee.
I had a tupperware I was using for midnight pee but I learned that plastic may crack and break. You can wash a pot easily. It's very hard to wash your tent floor.
Apr 29, 2015 at 9:33 am #2195547"So no one is complaining about how much time and difficulty it is to stow your sleeping bag. Interesting".
This used to be my #1 complaint and loathed chore, but then something inside me died and now it doesn't bother me anymore.

May 2, 2015 at 5:02 pm #2196340"So no one is complaining about how much time and difficulty it is to stow your sleeping bag. Interesting".
This statement was in reference to a Kickstarter campaign for a product called Snakey. It did not get funding. On their Kickstarter page they claimed that this was the #1 complaint amongst backpackers. This is why I started this thread as I could not believe that was true. Like I said on page one of this thread. The comments here have proven my assumptions.
No need to read anything more than that into it.
Trolls live. The proof of their existence can be found right here in this thread. See post below.

If I'm carrying a pack, I'm packing.
From the first post, and the definition that every other poster in this thread correctly assumed…
What is the worst part of packing your gear up for everyone?
Of course, you knew the meaning of "packing" that was intended but you have a burr under your saddle from another discussion.
May 2, 2015 at 6:35 pm #2196357Right Bob. Thought this was pretty clear. From my opening post, "What is the worst part of packing your gear up for everyone?"
May 2, 2015 at 7:37 pm #2196365Sorry I got carried away reading the post. Don't like my answers please ignore them or keep your conversation private. This realy has nothing personal to do with either one of you. I do not know you and I could care less. Just leave me alone.
