Seemed easy and quick to get the Fast Packing forum going, without having to wait for the new website design. Can we not do the same for this? What makes this less of a priority ? I thought most of us go backpacking because we love the outdoors…

I as anxious as anyone to see that sub-forum added … but Having had a career "in the business", I can say that there are legitimate reasons why the website redesign would be an obstacle. Contractual details often specify a freeze period or forbid anything that could be considered "feature creep". Migration plans almost always include some sort of freeze period. Communication issues in the globalized economy often result in huge delays. That said … reasons for progress do not have infinite shelf lives and this one is getting a bit stale.

I understand what you are saying Jim. The question remains as to why the Fast Packing forum came about so quickly and without having to wait for the upgraded website. Is it because Fast Packing is still about gear thus generating ads, while discussions on plants, animals and geology won't do that? Just a thought. Clearly how this all works is beyond me.
