Don, I don't want to enter the realm of TMI so I'll just say that the disinfectant qualities of the wipes would be lost if the alcohol is allowed to evaporate.
Mar 13, 2015 at 1:16 pm #2182314Here's an eBay link to the type of UA bottoms I'm talking about. I don't think they make these anymore. Make sure you get the "blue" labeled ones. The men's is a yellow label. I also saw Cold Gear base layer 1.0. Maybe that's the new version. I can't verify the weight. I like that they have a "waffle" on the inside which feels warmer to me. Reminds me of Cap4.
Regarding the wipes. You shouldn't be using wipes with alcohol for your nether regions. If the ones you use don't burn you, I suspect there's no alcohol in them. It's too harsh and will burn. Those type are ok for your hands and other parts but our private areas are too sensitive.
If you end up getting a zpacks in the future, get it a few inches longer and then pull it up to your ears. When it's cold, I also wear my beanie. If it's really cold, I wear all my layers including my puffy with the hood on. This acts just as well as a mummy style. This is one of the reasons why I always get my puffy with a hood.
Mar 13, 2015 at 2:25 pm #2182330Thanks for the info Dan! I'm looking at the zpacks bags. I'll consider one for this trip if I can get a good price for my Feathered Friends bag. I think I have a pair of running tights similar to the UA bottoms. I'll weigh them to see if they would be a suitable replacement for the wool. The wipes are provided by my OBGYN. Let's just leave it at that ;-).
