Virtual Pack Day Two Meals (Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2008) - 1
AlpineAire Foods Leonardo da Fettuccini was a pretty tasty meal, and surprised me by being a vegetarian option. Full of sodium and carbs, it’s a great way to restock after a long day. Also, the marmot probably turned Bob off meat for a while.

If you aren’t into bars and energy gels, you’d go pretty hungry at this OR show – there just isn’t much of a selection. That said, I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor in the AlpenAire Foods Leonardo da Fettuccini. Freeze-dried food can be really bland, really salty, or a weird combination of the two. This meal hit the right high notes while having enough in one pouch to serve two.

The lunch-time Clif Mojo was also tasty: sweet and salty, with enough crunch and heft to be filling. I topped it off with an energy gel because a man (Bob) can’t live on granola alone.

To round out his day, Bob enjoyed the Orange Chili flavored dark chocolate from Backpacker’s Gourmet. To take the edge off the heat (it’s actually mildly spicy), Bob washed it all down with an apres-dinner hot chocolate, conveniently fortified with protein.
