As a career journalist, I have been blessed with the opportunity to write about a wide variety of topics and have met many incredible people over the years. After working for newspapers and magazines in Los Angeles for many years, I relocated to Central Oregon in 2014 and have immensely enjoyed the endless mountains, trails, lakes, rivers and tall trees here. I have been a runner most of my adult life, and in my mid-30s took up ultramarathon running. After dozens of 50Ks and 50 milers, and a couple of 100-mile races (Western States and Angeles Crest 100, both in CA), I eventually scaled back on the long distances as I "matured." I still enjoy running on the trails, but have also discovered alpine skiing and backpacking, and fallen in love with them both! The slower pace of backpacking works well with my aging body, and being able to write about one of my passions (and be a gear nerd publicly!) is a joy. As a recent empty-nester, I share my home with my little four-legged family member, an orange terrier named "Reba," and I'm looking forward to longer and more frequent wilderness outings.
