Ken and Marcia Powers will soon be the first people to complete a continuous through-hike of the 4900 mile American Discovery Trail. They started the ADT in Delaware in February 2005 and should reach Point Reyes, California later this month. Their route has taken them through 13 states as they backpacked from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific.

Ken and Marcia Powers First to Through-hike the American Discovery Trail
That’s how I hope to spend my latter years! Congratulations to the Powers.
I’ll also add my praise to the other people.
I wish I would think of doing things like this. Part of what makes someone sucessful at something is having the idea to do that thing in the first place. Hiking the ADT is not someting I would have ever thought of. Having the idea is perhaps the most important thing. I learn of things like this and find myself thinking, “gee I wish I had thought of doing something like this.”
