Kamik’s new lightweight Viper waterproof insulated boot will hit the stores in late summer 2007. The 8.5-inch high Viper at 19.6 ounces per boot (BPL measured, men’s 9) sets a new standard for a lightweight insulated boot, and gets the weight down to a reasonable level so a snow boot can be considered “lightweight”.
The Viper has a waterproof ballistic nylon upper that is well protected with a wrap-around toe bumper. In the US it will have a waterproof bootie (not Gore-Tex) inside to keep water out; in Europe it will have Kamik’s OutDry technology. It’s insulated with 200 gram Thinsulate.
The Viper should be a good multi-purpose boot and should be especially suited for snowshoeing or snow walking for those who prefer a waterproof insulated boot. It will be available in several colors as well as kids’ sizes.
