The Cyclone Cap caught our eye because of its extreme light weight (1.7 ounces, size L) and utility. It’s a billed cap with a Pertex Endurance outer shell, micro-fleece lining, and ear flaps.
Pertex Endurance is a thin polyurethane laminate that is not especially breathable. However, in headwear there should be plenty of heat energy to drive water vapor through the membrane. The cap is not seam sealed, but will deflect rain and snow showers for quite awhile before it wets through the seams.
The Cyclone Cap is simple and light – just the way we like it. It looks to be a versatile piece to provide wind and water protection during active cool and cold weather pursuits, and the cinch strap at the back will allow it to be layered over a liner or keep it on in the wind.
