Overview
The Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness in Montana is one of the most wild, pristine, remote, and untrammeled places remaining in the Continental United States.

On the Backpacking Light Wilderness Adventures Whitetail Trek, you’ll learn and practice advanced navigation skills during a long traverse through high alpine terrain along routes that are seldom traveled.
The Whitetail Trek demands fitness, competence, dialed-in lightweight gear systems, and the mental toughness required to overcome the challenges of difficult terrain, inclement weather, challenging routefinding, and long days of trekking.
You’ll arrive in Montana for a day of pre-trek prep that includes seminars on weather forecasting, route assessment, and gear checks. After the seminars, we’ll spend the rest of the day making final adjustments to our gear systems, itinerary, and route plans. The next morning, you’ll embark early on a 6-day adventure.
