To be honest, I can’t remember the last time I was excited about a new Mountain Hardwear product. In their early days the line seemed to have a more unified sense of purpose, the products offering sensible takes on gear and clothing. But for years, now, it seems I’ve just shaken my head at their new releases. It has seemed like their designers… weren’t really tent designers. Or perhaps the products were built, piece by piece, by people cut off from most communication. Some of the products have struck me as over-wrought comic-book superhero gadgetry. HOWEVER, there is GOOD NEWS! It looks like they’re back! As I examined Mountain Hardwear’s SuperMega UL2, I kept saying “Nice!” and nodding my head, “Yeah… Brilliant!”
