I picked up this solo tent for bikepacking and ended up with a Dyneema shelter. Used, but in like new shape, it was only used for one night. This is a super light, single wall, one person tent that has a large 26 sq. ft. living space and extra 8.5 sq. ft. vestibule to protect your gear. The unique hexagonal design and steep, sloping sides help deflect high winds and shed snow, so you stay cozy inside.

It weighs in at 26 ounces and packs up small. The materials are durable, but light. The tent canopy is 20D Silicone Coated Polyester, the floor is 40D Silicone Coated Polyester and has a mesh door to keep out bugs. Ventilation is controlled using 6-in mesh lining above the bathtub floor to minimize condensation.

The tent pitches using a trekking pole, but I bought the optional aluminum pole ($15) which is included.

This tent has not been seam sealed, so this is something that should be performed. SMD has detailed videos available to help with this task.

This is a highly rated tent and was named an Editor’s Choice piece of gear by Backpacker in 2019. It’s really popular right now and it’s sold out on the SMD website. The full retail value of this is $230 for the tent, $15 for the SMD pole and $11 for the polycro ground sheets for a total of $256. Again no stakes are included in this sale.
