This is a MYOG packbag with an original Seek Outside frame and harness. It’s a high capacity, ultralight(ish) load hauler designed with packrafting in mind but obviously isn’t limited to that use.
Details:
-
MYOG Packbag:
-
Made from X-Pac X21RC fabric. Frame interface are 500D cordura. Double X21 bottom.
-
Top circumference: 48″, bottom circ: 41″, unrolled height: 42″.
-
Packpag has no rips, tears, or cuts.uterman Tera 60 thread. Seams are bound with grosgrain. Vertical main seams are externally sealed with seam grip. Horizontal seams made in attaching the suspension interface are taped. Bottom is not sealed.
-
Requires a “talon” style compression pocket as there are no other attachments for the compression straps.
-
Frame and harness interface mimics the Seek Outside design (I copied a bag I have).
-
Roll-top has plastic stiffener.
-
Packpag bas no rips, tears, or cuts.
-
Used on two week-long trips. On one of these trips, I hauled over 60 pounds and the pack held up great!
-
Packbag was designed to be able to strip all the suspension components and compression pocket, becoming essentially a dry bag that can be strapped to a packraft with the gatekeeper compression straps (see photo).
-
-
Seek Outside suspension, frame, straps:
-
Frame is new.
-
Shoulder straps and waistbelt are size L. They have seen about 60 days of use but are in good condition. The foam in the shoulder straps is a bit packed out in places but I still find them comfortable.
-
Seek Outside gatekeeper compression straps (x6) plus over the top y-strap.
-
-
MYOG “Talon” compression pocket:
-
New/never used.
-
500D cordura.
-
Bungee cord closure.
-
Separate sleeve against the pack for storing paddle blades (see photo).
-
Price include shipping to the US. I’ll cover PP fees.
Price reduced!
I am interested.
Which method did you use to compute the volume?
I have been thinking about getting something like this as baby 2 is on the way and I’d like to be able to haul everything for me, my wife, and two small children.
Also it looks like a talon is included in the picture is it included?
Can you post or send me pictures of your workmanship for the harness pack bag interface?
NM, about the Talon, I see it at the end of your description now. I apparently don’t read.
Russell – I added three more images to the bottom of the imgur gallery. It doesn’t allow me to add images to the original post. Gallery: https://imgur.com/a/bhuz628
Hey Russell,
Thanks for your interest. I’m estimating the volume off of other packs. The HMG Porter 5400 (85L) has ever so slightly smaller dimensions (height and circumference). It’s slight smaller dimensionally than SO’s own 100L. I think 90L is a pretty good estimate.
Yes the talon is included!
Did you check out all the images in the Imgur gallery link? There are some decent harness interface photos in there, but let me know if there’s something specifically you want to see. I’ll look through the gallery again and see if I can fill in the gaps. The only thing with the harness interface is that I knicked the lookers left frame end slot with my hot knife. There is a grosgrain patch on it visible in one of the gallery photos. The patch is strong, not in a high stress spot, and not that noticeable.
Based on the seek outside design the thing I am most concerned about is the pockets the top of the frame slots into. That bears the most load and I don’t want it to blow out. I have a SO unaweep 3900 and that blew out because the seam allowance wasn’t good enough. SO was awesome and fixed me up but still a point of concern for me. I hope those two points are really reinforced and beefy.
Also you didn’t mention shipping, is that included in your price or extra?
First – yep, I’ll cover shipping. Not sure how I forgot to mention that. I’ll edit the listing.
I feel good about the frame pockets. They’re made from doubled 500D cordura and reinforced with extra stitching. This pack hasn’t seen a ton of use but on both trips it carried 50 pounds, and on one trip, 60+ pounds. I haven’t seen any signs of wear. I’ve made the same pack for my wife, using less strong 210D gridstop, and she’s out about 6 weeks of use on it, also with 50-60 pound loads, and it’s held up fine.
