Black size Size “R”, Size “S” hip belt which is optimal for 27-31″ but can go smaller and larger

Was hoping to find a bag which would work well as carry-on for trips that mixed urban and back country. When rolltop is fully retracted qualifies on most airlines as carry on. It’s 22″ long but can be compress a couple of inches if you haven’t overpacked. Purchased when in TW a few weeks ago without a real ability to test it except while walking around the store.

When got home took it on a modest test hike. I found that it was acceptable comfort up to 22lb which confirmed my initial positive impression. Typically I need to keep below 12lb when using a frameless pack to avoid shoulder pain. The only other frameless that I could use over 12lb was the SMD StarLite which like the Tufa had an external pad pocket which really secured the pad. With 20lb I found carry comfort slightly better than HMG SouthWest 2400?! but didn’t match a Gossamer Gear Gorilla (2nd generation with current generation hip belt).

I have decided that the carry comfort of the Gorrila trumps the Tufa’s easier carry-on compliance and more attractive lines.
