This is a prototype backpack that never went into production. I tested it and provided feedback to GG about 5 years ago. The fabrics, volume, and feature set make it a very useful backpack for the right person. When you read the description you will see that it is actually a very cool pack.
Volume is about 40L based on pack bag measurements, which is the volume of the Gorilla pack
Measured weight is 22.8 ounces, which is just 4.3 ounces more than the Kumo 36 pack in size Large.
Materials and Features:
- 210d Robic Nylon body
- Durable stretch mesh front pocket
- Side pockets are 210d Robic nylon and large enough for 2 water bottles
- One shorter (9”) side pocket and one taller (13”) side pocket
- 2 ¾” compression straps on each side of the pack
- 3” wide well-padded shoulder straps, similar to the Gorilla
- Backpanel pad pocket with SitLite pad
- Attached 4” wide hipbelt with 2 zippered pockets
- 1.5” webbing and buckle on the hipbelt
- ¾” sternum strap
- Drawcord, roll down, and top strap closure
- 9” extension collar
- Internal hydration sleeve with 3 hanger loops (but no hose port)
- 2 accessory strap attachment loops on the bottom front (straps included)
As you can see, this is a cool pack. It could be called a “Frameless Gorilla” pack since it is the same volume and many of the features are the same. However, the features are not exactly the same. The pack is frameless and there is no provision to add a frame to this pack.
Pack is in excellent condition except for a few small blemishes (see photos)
