I’ve accumulated too many windshirts. Let me know if you want to see photos and I’ll happily PM them, but these shirts show little, if any, signs of wear, so stock photos are quite representative. I have not worn any of these windshirts. They have just been hanging in my closet and it’s time for them to go to people who’ll use them.

NEW Addition: Black Diamond Alpine Start Hoody Men’s Medium Ash (light gray) NWOT

This is a new without tags 2016 Black Diamond Alpine Start Hoody purchased from REI. I removed tags and it rode in my backpack on two trips but I never wore it. This is a superb neutral gray color that blends well into natural surroundings. BD just discontinued this color a couple weeks ago.

Black Diamond Alpine Start Hoody Men’s Medium Smoke (dark gray/black)

Purchased in excellent condition on eBay several years ago. Only sign of wear is that the care tags have been removed. This iteration had Schoeller Nanosphere DWR, which is still in excellent working condition, e.g. it beads water vigorously, even on the shoulders, which suggests to me that this was never worn with a backpack. BPL member Stephen Seeber has tested the Alpine Start to have MVTR >3500, CFM around 15. I am keeping five of these; my favorite windshirt. Very durable.

Arcteryx Incendo Hoody Men’s Medium Planktonic (greenish blue)

Purchased in excellent condition. No signs of wear. DWR intact. This iteration has smaller mesh panels in underarm area than the current version, which I think is better for backpacking. Very wind-protective (low CFM) but also very breathable (high MVTR), with very high HH (I’ve used the Incendo as rain gear in prolonged light/medium rain). Outdoor Gear Lab gave this their top prize for running jackets a couple years ago, citing the combination of weather resistance and breathability. I have two others that I’m keeping. This is my favorite windshirt for cold winter conditions. It does run slim for svelte runners. This would be good for a M guy with just a baselayer under or for a S guy with room to layer (I wear a L and it fits like a M Squamish).

Westcomb Crest Hoody Men’s Medium gray

Purchased in excellent condition. No signs of wear. DWR intact. Red chest zipper accent. Stephen Seeber has posted the CFM (around 60) and MVTR (best of any windshirt) for this model in the forum. Those specs are similar to the Patagonia Airshed – very permeable, very breathable. The Pertex Equilibrium fabric is probably the softest and quietest of any windshirt I’ve had. It is also a denier-gradient fabric, so wicks sweat. Would wear well against the skin in warm conditions.

Paramo Ostro Fleece hoody Men’s Medium Gray Marl (light gray) – SOLD

Brand New with Tags. This is a water-resistant fleece from Paramo that has PFC-free Nikwax DWR impregnation. It is like a softshell fleece. CFM 35; MVTR around 3000; HH around 250mm. When worn as an outer layer, this functions like a water- and wind-resistant windshirt/fleece that is completely silent. Good for hunting. I’ve worn another of these in light rain for several hours before the shoulders finally srarted wetting out. It is designed to pair with the Ostro Windshirt, with that combination being effectively waterproof. Can be paired with an appropriate windshirt of another brand to similar effect. I have another of these and really like it. It’s a bit heavy, but for some activities it is great. Paramo use the same fabric on their Bentu and Enduro fleece items, so online reviews of those are representative of this one. This fits slim so layers really well under most windshirts.

Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System Generation III; Level IV Men’s Small Multicam

This is the current iteration of the ECWCS silicone-impregnated Level 4 windshirt. Half zip; hoodless. Bought in Like New/Excrellent condition and have not worn it. Appears unused. This fits like a Men’s small. A little bit of 2-way stretch. Very durable; built for rough conditions.

345g; $50

Wild Things Windshirt Men’s Small Multicam

This is NOT the coveted silicone-impregnated WT 2.0 windshirt that Wildthings used to sell. It’s the current version, which uses a nice, quiet nylon ripstop with good DWR. Bought his New without Tags and have never worn it. Fit’s like a small.

Montbell vintage hoodless windshirt. Men’s Medium royal blue/black – SOLD

This is a Montbell hoodless windshirt with full zip and stand up collar from around the mid-2000s. Uses a very soft, quiet fabric. CFM around 40 (estimate). Close fit for baselayer under, but not tight through the chest or shoulders. I never wore this but believe I bought it used. It is in very good condition, however, and the DWR is still very functional. I’ve been holding on to this one because of the great air permeability, fit and softness/quietness, but it should go to someone who’s going to use it.
