With tags. I just got this bag in from Hermitt’s Hut. I wanted something that would be about halfway between my 23 oz MB #3 and my 31 oz Alpinlites (I have 2, the new one is for sale here on GS). But when I unboxed the Megalite w/overfill and tried to put it in the regular Megalite stuffsack to weigh it, I could see it wasn’t going to fit. So I got my Alpinlite stuffsack out, put it on a highly accurate scale and hit TARE, then stuffed the overfill Megalite in the sack and put it on the scale. I was shocked to see the bag by itself weighs 29.3 oz, which is 2.3 oz more than what it was supposed to weigh. I called WM support and they said no way is all the extra weight from the shell. They just went crazy with the overfill at the factory in San Jose. Many people would be thrilled to have a Megalite with 16.3 oz fill, but it’s just too close to my Alpinlite to justify keeping such an expensive bag. I weighed it on another scale and used test weights to make sure what I was seeing was real. A regular Megalite without overfill actually weighs 25 oz and not the 24 oz listed (according to ulog/UK who weighs EVERYTHING that goes on their site).

I paid $545 but I want $562 Paypal G & S to cover my Paypal fees. I could return it but it will cost me $22 shipping either way and I don’t want to do that to the cool people at Hermitt’s Hut after they already paid for the shipping to send it to me.

A) The overfill Megalites are hardly ever available and they only last minutes to hours when they do go online (and usually contain 2 oz overfill). B) You’re not likely to ever see a new Megalite with 16.3 oz down fill become available for this price again. Price includes shipping CONUS.
