I’m a big fan of the Southwest 3400, my original still going strong after 6+ years.
One issue: the stretch fabric edging the outer pockets will inevitably go limp with time, leaving them sort of hanging open. This doesn’t bother me on the side pockets where I keep water bottles as the fit is secure enough and there’s a compression strap if needed. On the main outer compartment, however, things are too wide open for my liking, especially when things get scrambly/Class 3. Adding a little webbing and clip has been quite helpful. I used a spare removable ladderlock (whatever these are called) from a Seek Outside pack and a little webbing…
The gray webbing is sewn on. The black webbing, including attachment point, is already there. Easy peasy.
