I sprout at home and would like to try this on the trail. However, I don’t know what to do with the sprouts-in-progress overnight if they’re growing in a ventilated container (hemp bag, Nalgene bottle) rather than soaking in a closed container. Do you put the sprouting bag/jar in your bear bag? How do you keep the sprouts from getting a) mouldy or, if you leave ventilation, b) eaten by mice and chipmunks?

    Thank you very much.

I’ve never sprouted but I’ve seen my grandmother do it when I was a kid. Could you use some wire mesh under a mason jar top on a plastic mason jar and use a small carabiner to clip that to your bear hang setup?

I hadn’t thought of clipping the sprouting container to the outside of a bear bag. Thank you! I’ll give that a try.
