Great read about adventure, accidents, and heroes. Good writing kept my rapt attention and heart beating faster than most adventure trip reports.

Take away:

1) If you are doing a remote wilderness trip consider taking a two-way PLB versus a line-of-sight VHF radio.

2) Be sure everyone knows how to use the emergency gear.
