So how much cabbage will I need to upgrade my old Stratospire to this new magical castle? Can I buy only the fly and would it be compatible with my current semi-solid inner?

The price will be set soon .
The SS2 inners are not compatible.
The SS Li size is in between the 1 and 2. I suspect that the 1 inners will fit but will need longer tie outs at ground level.

Very cool. I was wondering if TT would opt for the Saddle or SS design for the inevitable 2P DCF shelter and here’s the answer.

Nice to see TarpTent using uretek/water resistant zippers for this. I love zippers (over clips), and I love the water resistant ones so there’s no need for a rain flap that can snag and never blocks rain that well anyways. I expected lighter #3 zippers but the #5’s will last longer.

Also neat that TT has shrunk the SS2 to about 85% size to make the panels work with the roll width of DCF. That means it won’t be a generously sized as the regular SS2, but saves quite a bit of weight and puts it much closer to what a DCF Saddle would weigh. Probably just +2oz for the struts. The floor width drop from 50″ to 45″ is fine. The height drop from 50″ to 43″ will be a more noticeable trade-off, but I’m sure does save some weight. Should be a great partner in the rain with zero sag material.

    Tempting to pick one up…

I cleared this up at your previous comment where you said it was 7″ shorter. It is not.

The inner height of the SS Li is 43″. The “inner peak height” (fly only) is 49″.

Sorry this is all so confusing. I’l go back and clean up all the language.

Yea, it’s only 2cm shorter than the silnylon version. The biggest change is the floor width, but you can still squeeze a wide and regular pad in there.

I have the SMD Haven in DCF that also clocks in at 28oz so I realllllly don’t need this. If I want to get a 2P 4 season shelter, however, this might just fit the bill.

Do you think that I needed to eat that cream cheese and blueberry strudel last night ?

Is it available with alternative inners (regular floor)?

Dyneema floor only, all mesh or solid (with mesh venting) interiors.  We think the SS1 interiors will fit the fly with some strap extensions but need to test it.

It would be nice if the website broke down the specs of just the fly and inner. I believe the old website did break it down.

    Here’s how it breaks down:

SS Li fly (with struts and cording): 14.2 oz
SS li mesh interior = 11.5 oz
    Stakes = 1.8 oz (6 in)
    Stuff sack = 0.5 oz

My dream tent finally became real! The Stratospire Li is just about damn near perfect for my needs. Not to mention that an Exped SynMat HL Duo pad will fit for the non-solo nights. Only down side is staying up til 3am EDT to get a spot on the order list come August 27.

    Cheers,

One of the benefits of living in Portland in getting to go to PCT Days for an afternoon; I didn’t get in the SS Li but walked around it and it’s going to check a lot of boxes for a lot of UL hikers.

Has there been a ballpark price listed anywhere for the SS Li?  I’m in the process of buying a new tent but may hold off for the SS Li if the price isn’t too high.

As the Stratospire Li officially goes on sale tomorrow, who is going to jump on one?

Henry’s attention to detail is awesome, but think I’ll wait a moment or two before investing. I prefer the 1+ size vs the Notch Li and many LDT hikers will. Looks to be a darn good investment assuming things go to plan. Certain to be an instant hit.

Not sure about the 1+ reference but the SS Li is designed for 2.
it takes one 25″ and one 20″ wide mat side by side .
