I’m working on my first myog pack and would like to avoid 3D spacer mesh as an inner surface for the hipbelt—heavy and it collects small pine needles and such).
I’ve read here of using lighter, uncoated Cordura for its somewhat grippy texture and breathability.
Where the heck can you buy it online? I can’t find it anywhere.
Also, what are alternative fabrics that have some gription and are uncoated?
Feb 26, 2020 at 12:33 pm #3633297I’ve seen lighter Cordura in Europe, but not in the US.
Anything classified as uncoated nylon Oxford might do the job, though I’d get a sample first as finishes vary and some are quite slick.
Perhaps something like this:Â https://www.seattlefabrics.com/60-200-D-Solarmax-Uncoated-Oxford-975-linear-yard_p_43.html
Feb 26, 2020 at 12:41 pm #3633298There is some uncoated Cordura listed on eBay. Most of it seems pretty heavy duty though at 1000D.

More grip than Oxford 210d nylon, but I still wouldn’t call it grippy. Probably a decent choice anyway.
Feb 26, 2020 at 3:35 pm #3633330Tuukka—Thank you, though I’m in the USA and have never ordered anything from outside this country. I imagine it’s expensive to do.
Anyone in the states ever ordered from extremtextil.de?
Feb 26, 2020 at 5:50 pm #3633345Taslan. It’s air textured like Cordura and available in uncoated versions.
Feb 26, 2020 at 10:32 pm #3633381Chris—Taslan might work. It seems to typically be 70d and about 3.5 to 4.9 oz/yd (depending on the supplier’s version).
If I can’t find the Cordura I might give it a try. Thanks.
Feb 26, 2020 at 11:04 pm #3633383I use coated 330d Cordura for hipbelt and shoulder straps on MYOG stuff. Under tension it’s quite grippy against clothing.
Why do you want uncoated? The foam underneath is typically closed cell. Or are you using perforated foam?
The uncoated is also at greater risk of becoming frayed; unless hot knifed.
Feb 27, 2020 at 9:12 am #3633413@roamer I’m taking my cues from Paul McLaughlin here on BPL. He uses uncoated Cordura and puts his own perforations into the foam (punches holes).
I would consider coated 330d Cordura. Do you know where I could find it?
Feb 27, 2020 at 4:55 pm #3633490On Instagram ripstopbytheroll.com has mentioned that “throughout the first couple months of this year” they will be potentially offering 330d and other cordura products along with their current offerings.
Might be worth giving them an e-mail/phone call.
Feb 27, 2020 at 7:20 pm #3633510Seattle Fabrics. Just purchased some last month.

Feb 28, 2020 at 10:25 am #3633569Eric—Thanks for the inside scoop on RBTR.
@roamer—Thanks. I had seen that but was trying for the uncoated version.Paul—I had seen Taslan there and a couple of other places online. Thanks for the recommendation. They don’t list the denier but they do show the weight, which is good enough. I think I’ll go this route.
Feb 28, 2020 at 1:57 pm #3633607We have bought a lot of Taslan from OWFINC.
Cheers
