I’m working up the courage to make my first quilt! What are some sources people use to get good quality, ethically-sourced goose down? (I know of RBTR, Thru-Hiker, Dutch, DownLinens)
I ordered from Down Linens recently and am satisfied. You can get a 10% off coupon if you sign up for emails. They seemed to have a good price for the down quality. I bought 3 pounds of down (making 3 quilts), and it came in a giant bag that is about 5 feet tall. I like how you can choose fill power, water-resistant or not, etc.
I think you listed the main down suppliers. Quest Outfitters also sells down.
I just ran across this. What thickness of loft and what kind of quilt consumed an entire pound.of down? I am planning my first down project and 1 lb sounds like a lot.
I used 1lb of 750 down in my first myog quilt. I’ve taken it down to 15°F. I had to supplement with poofy jacket and pants. My feet were the only thing that got cold. It keeps me warm down to around 30°F in just my hiking clothes.
I have since made another with only 9 oz of down for summer months.
