Maybe I’m the only one who found this confusing, but over the weekend, I was looking at Hyperlite Mountain Gear’s website. Specifically, their fabrics. I was confused about some inconsistencies in the claimed weight per square yard of their DCF11. So, I emailed them the following question:
I’m hoping you can help me to better understand your DCF11. At your blog entry, found here:
https://www.hyperlitemountaingear.com/blogs/ultralight/cuben-fiber-renamed-price-changes-dyneema-fabrics
you write that DCF 11 is “1.13oz/m”. Then, on this page:
https://www.hyperlitemountaingear.com/pages/hyperlite-technology
you write that DCF11 is “1.3 oz/yd2”
Then, finally, on your roll top bag page:
https://www.hyperlitemountaingear.com/collections/stuff-sacks/products/roll-top-stuff-sacks
You write: “Hand built using DCF11 (1.14 oz/yd2) fabric . . .” and then farther down on the same page, in the fabric section, you write: “DCF11 | 1.3 oz/yd2”.
Can you please clarify? Is DCF11 1.13 oz/m? 1.14oz/yd2? Or 1.3 oz/yd2?
Here is what they told me this morning, in a email reply:
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us and I am sorry for this confusion. I will bring this to the attention of my web team immediately. To clarify, the DCF11 will be 1.14 oz. sq/yd. If you have any other questions with the specification of our gear, please feel free to get back to me at any time.
Thought I would put this out there for reference.
