Hi all….been a long time since I have done a trip. Some here will remember me. It’s a different me now….lol. GGG notwithstanding. I have acquired a bunch of new gear and I want to test out my new toys before the summer. Since my beloved Big Basin has been burned, where else can I do an easy hike to set up gear, relax and have fun. Castle Rock is ok, and that is the only one aside from Big Basin that I have been to. Thanks for the suggestions

“Near”, but not Santa Cruz hills.. I tended to use Coe or Ventana for tests.  I tend to want to get away from people and get some good miles in. The closest to me is out the front door, up to black’s mountain. I used butano years ago, but haven’t been back in the last 5 years or so. https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=26658  has some info.

I liked Santa Cruz, but I always headed south to Monterey or Carmel.
