I’ve been using a SOLO MTN Butane Gas Refill Canister Filling Adapter but it started leaking.  They don’t sell them anymore.

There’s a shaft with a needle valve on it.  Two o-rings to keep the butane from leaking

There’s a threaded bushing that keeps the shaft in place.  There is too much clearance between the shaft and the bushing so the shaft rocks.  This causes butane to leak out past the o-rings.

I just opened the needle valve and siliconed the outside – doesn’t leak now but you can’t close the needle valve.

The other end screws onto a canister and also has a needle valve, so I just close it.

There’s probably a better solution which some more mechanically inclined person might have : )

    thanks

hmmm…  I will have to decide if it’s worth the effort of fixing it properly.  I am able to use it.  When I disconnect it from the can, all the butane in the hose is discharged, but that happens anyway although very sowly.

“When I disconnect it from the can, all the butane in the hose is discharged,”

I rarely if ever get that.  I keep the donor canister, adapters and hoses at room temperature.  The receiving canister is the only thing from the freezer.  When I close the valve on the donor side, I leave the adaptor/hoses connected for a while (10-20 seconds), below the donor canister and above the receiving canister.  I figure that any liquid butane/propane will flash to vapor and travel to the cold receiving canister (where it will condense).   Seems to work.

Or is there only one valve in this set-up?  When done transferring, try putting the canisters below the valve and warming the hose (in your hand, with a hair dryer, etc) to purge it of liquid fuel.

I’ve got a great adaptor Lindal-to-Lindal: G Works, Gas Saver.

Which goes for about $30.  Now, for the first time, I’m seeing a bunch of these:

On eBay for about $11 include shipping out of China.  Anyone try one of those, yet?

I’ve never found a connection to the Asian-market, upright, n-butane canisters that I liked nor trusted much.

I have one of those Gworks Lindal to Lindal, yeah, that works pretty good, better quality?

The SOLO is to transfer from those cheap cartidges, $1.25 for 8 ounces.  I believe they’re about 50% n-butane, 50% isobutane.  Work down to about 32 F without a Moulder strip or whatever.
