August 27 the fee goes up from $10 to $80 (lifetime)

    You have to be 62

Good for parking at trailheads, half off on campground fees, entry into national parks

    Even at $80 it’s a good deal

Three month backlog if you order by mail or online, plus $10 service fee, for “America the Beautiful – National Parks & Federal Recreational Lands Senior Pass.” Order by August 28, you get the old price.

You can buy in person at many National Parks and other federal recreation sites, but some of them are selling out. Check directly before making a long trip to one of these locations:

Damn!  I have another year to go before I am eligible.  Still at $80 I will do it then.

I read August 27, August 28 will not qualify

I got mine at a Forest Service office

One of my many pet pieves is that seniors get this.  We already get lots of benefits.  I picture some young family, trying to make ends meet raising a family, paying their social security so I can ride around in my expensive RV.  They should get this benefit : )

I’ve had mine for a couple of years now.  And after our recent trip to SEKI, we stopped to get one for my wife, too.  $10.  Unbelievable.

My thinking several years ago was to have 2 of them – one for my wallet, and one with the truck registration in case my wallet was stolen or lost. At just $10 each, why not? (at $80, probably not…)
