I’ve gotten it to inflate in the way you describe, Richard, but it worked less well the other day at low temperature (10F-15F). Not sure if that had something to do with it.
I have a Winglock Xtherm Max and the stock pump bag is miserable and overly heavy duty. Just awful. :(
I tried Brain F’s suggestion of using the old valve to connect the Schnozzle to the Winglock. Yeah, no. haha
It’s terribly finicky and if you need to get some good pressure going to firm up the last bit, it all pops loose easily. At least in my testing. Thankfully I tested this before cutting the old valve out of the old sack.
Here’s my solution that seems to work quite well if you get the closed cell foam material just the right diameter to fit snugly onto both units. I added a doubled-up pull cord to get the Schnozzle end nice and tight. There is enough air bleed-off from the foam under high pressure that it helps protect the sleeping pad from being over inflated without popping off.
Weighs 4g, and I could easily cut that down a bit by making it shorter with less tape and thinner cord and lock.
It looks sloppy because this was just a quick mockup that ended being completely functional. Just slap that tape all over. :) I will make something more fancy looking once this one stops working.
