Hi MYOGers. I wanted to buy some more double sided tape that ZPacks had sold for bonding cuben. They originally offered small rolls of 1/2″ tape, and even 1.0″ tape recently. It is now unavailable, and only the 1″ x 54″ strips of single sided tape with the .51 oz/sq yd cuben backing are available for purchase. It is a sweet product for making stuff sacks and even minor repairs. I contacted ZPacks about this and the reply was that they will no longer stock and sell these items. They are apparently swamped with the work of making the finished products, and can’t take the time to sell many of these MYOG supplies.
My question is this – where do I go to get those rolls of double sided 3M tape. I am guessing that the item number, or the “type” of tape, is 4032, but I’m not at all sure. I asked the CS lady at ZPacks if she would give me that information so that I could buy the right stuff online somewhere else. She replied that it is proprietary information, and that she wished me good luck. Very helpful of her…
So does anyone know where I am able to find the exact same tape? I am interested in getting a roll of both the 1/2″ and the 1.0″ double sided tape for use in my cuben MYOG projects. Please help!

Outside of that, you’re looking for 3M 9482, 9460 or 9472 if my memory is correct. The difference between these three are minimal. 9485pc also works fine, but it’s 5mil and my preference is for the 2mil tapes. Hope that helps.

supposedly, 9485 doesn’t slip
other tapes will slowly slip under load, but if you also put a row of stitches this won’t happen
Feb 2, 2018 at 9:07 pm #35162129485pc will absolutely creep if the seam is designed poorly. If designed correctly, the cuben will delaminate in both peel and shear before the tape lets go. My advice is to not reinvent the wheel and just copy what the cottage guys have been doing for years now.

which is? : )
Apr 18, 2018 at 3:08 am #35310803M 9460PC will be just fine. I just did a Google search and for example:
Some other types may be different just in the thickness.
I did some experiments, and my conclusion is : it’s not true that the thicker the glue is, the stronger it will bond…
