Just throwing it out there…if you’re looking for an inexpensive down jacket with a hood this jacket is pretty tough to beat, especially for the price. For $90 It is what it is, and it actually seems pretty decent. I got an XL (usually wear a large but Decathlon says to size up). Fits well and the XL weighs 11.8oz.
I have an order Mountain hardware down jacket that is similar but doesn’t have a hood and it weights a couple ounces more than the Decathlon. I really wanted a hooded down jacket but didn’t want to break the bank. Don’t expect Patagonia quality here, but it still seems like it will last if taken care of.
I have no affiliation with the company, have never owned anything from them before, and just ordered it on a whim because of the price.
Jun 14, 2023 at 9:51 am #3783332First, my own PSA. (Matt or Mods) Edit out the Google tracking in the OP link. Everything after the “&” in links is The Man tracking you and anyone who clicks your link.
Most people who post links are guilty of this and it’s bad. Data brokers are watching every click. Don’t give them more data. Anytime you search on Amazon or Google, they generally add a unique click ID to the end of the product web address. Look for &cid= or &gid= or &gclk= or &clkid= in a web address followed by a jibberish string of letters and numbers, and delete everything after the “&” before sharing the link. You can verify the cleaned link still works before posting.</p>
Here is the clean link with crap removedAs for the jacket, This is the well known and now time tested alternative to the MH GW. its a fraction of the price for only a 3-4oz weight penalty (but more durable fabric) so really it’s close to a wash overall.
Also their Trek 900 box baffle jacket is only like $160. That is on par with a MB Alpine warmth wise for about 20oz.
Decathalon is generally a great brand when you don’t want to spend a ton but want medium-light gear. Their price to performance can only be beat by used gear.
