Any recommendations for a pot that has a lip on the bottom to keep it from sliding off pocket rocket?
I have been carefully using Toaks 750ml.

Jan 10, 2024 at 7:05 am #3801246I’ve had same problem with PR and Evernew 900 pot. Once, I dumped the contents. The muscle memory that was created has made me more careful so it hasn’t happened again.
The Evernew 900 has a wider base than the 750 which helps a little bit.
I usually have a rock(s)/logs in back as a windscreen. I position them so the pot can’t slide off to the rear.
I have a windscreen that attaches to the pot. Mostly, this is a windscreen, but also it keeps the pot from sliding off the stove. It also has some heat exchanger functionality.
Someone else posted an improved version of this
Jan 10, 2024 at 9:36 am #3801257Thanks Edvin and Jerry for the ideas. Jerry I thought about using the base of my Ti Tri system which fits the 750ml pot but was concerned about overheating the stove and fuel. What brand of wind screen is that?

aluminum flashing from hardware store
#18 galvanized wire
there is enough detail in that picture to make it yourself, but you can ask questions :)
the other version that I’m too lazy to find the post about is another way to do it

MSR version weighs 6 ounces. Mine is 1.25 ounces. And it fits in my evernew 900

Jan 10, 2024 at 11:08 am #3801266Do it yourself pots made from Foster beer cans like the one Gossammer Geear used to sell. You can see the ridge on the bottom in this photo:

It is well made

I’ve never had a pot fall, but I also stay with my stove while its burning so I’ve never had a pot of boiling water “walk off” the supports. Not saying that’s what happened, but I’m not sure how else a pot that was stable when initially set on the stove supports would tip over without something causing it to move.
Jan 12, 2024 at 3:48 pm #3801425+1 for FlatCat Gear (I use the Ocelot windscreen)
I have one as well for my PRD. It provides great wind protection and increased stove efficiency at a very low weight penalty. I highly recommend it.
Jan 12, 2024 at 4:22 pm #3801427The way mine fell over is I bumped it and it moved slightly.
I was using the 3 armed Soto which has a fairly small distance between arms, so you don’t have to move it much to tip over.
That Ocelot looks pretty good.
There is enough vertical width to block the wind from the burner. A windscreen that rests on the ground will have to be wider (heavier, won’t fit in pot).
It will direct the exhaust so it flows next to the pot so its a little more efficient
There’s no heat exchanger function like Casey and mine – heat is transferred from windscreen to pot. A little more efficiency.
The Ocelot is attached to the stove so you just put the pot on the stove instead of having the windscreen attached to the pot. Its subjective whether this makes any difference.
You can just buy the Ocelot – depends on the user whether this is better or worse : )
