Can somebody (that means you, too, Roger Caffin) with a poncho solution to hiking in the rain provide some guidance, if not a pattern, to making the “ideal” poncho? I’ve got an Osprey Exos 58 with very few things hanging on the outside, i.e., no foam pad, etc.
The Parcho is what I’ve used most recently; you can buy a pattern from Quest Outfitters or follow instructions in a link on the page to make one. There are size options for different sized packs. I modified mine to have some of the features of Roger C’s mountain parka, for which you can find a how-to article here on BPL a few years back.
