Looking for any tips for my upcoming trip to Patagonia in Nov for the W Circuit. Adventure Alan online guide was exremely helpful, just looking for any other tips or suggestions. We do have a 3 day window after the hike for other activities so any suggestions on that would be appreciated. Thanks

A few years ago my wife and I did the W and had a great time. https://www.flickr.com/photos/d1948n/albums/72157643186792094  Last year we were going to do it again but with the new rules and regulations it became very expensive and hard to organize. Instead we headed to El Chalten in Argentina and hiked near Mt Fitzroy. The area is at least as beautiful and not as crowded. https://www.flickr.com/photos/d1948n/albums/72157690003787234  We love Chile but will never go back to the Torres del Paine.

Never been to Torres del Paine but it’s certainly on my todo list.

What new rules and regulations have been in place that raise the price for visiting there?

You have to make reservations for each night and if the weather shuts you down for a day you are screwed. Also the people we had to make reservations with were difficult to work with. We ran into some people who had to delay the start of their trip due to weather and then had to do very long mileage to catch up or totally change the trip. We found things much easier to set up in Argentina and the scenery was equally spectacular.
