I am planning on hiking Andrew Skurka’s Yosemite High Route, Steve Roper’s Sierra High Route, and Alan Dixon/Don Wilson’s Southern Sierra High Route. I plan on starting from Leavitt Meadows TH (Near Sonora Pass – northern terminus of the YHR), hiking southbound, ending in Cottonwood Lakes TH (South of Whitney – southern terminus of SoSHR). I plan to pull permits as soon as they are released. I originally was planning on hiking solo, but feel it may be a good idea to team up with someone if possible. It’s roughly 330 ish miles and lots of elevation, looking at about 22 hiking days and 2 zeros. I don’t have any set dates besides early summer ish (Mid June – July). This is the rough route (https://caltopo.com/m/KKJPN) at the moment. Looking at doing food pickups at Tioga pass (if they are open this season), Reds Meadow, and Lake Sabrina.
A little about me I have been on quite a lot of trips in the Sierra’s and looking for more of a challenge. Some trail hike I’ve done HST, JMT, and leading 2 crew at Philmont scout ranch on 75 and 112mile treks and a few other 100+ mile hikes. Most hikes I’ve done recently are mainly off trail or have a off trail part. I have a decent amount of experience with class 2 and 3 terrain, route finding, and maps. I have side hikes some cross country passes off in the Sierra’s while on other trips.
