Some time ago I bought some Timps on sale knowing nothing about Altras. It’s time to replace them and I’m wondering what else might be a good choice. I really like the wide toe box and the fit in general, but I’d like to try a different brand for a couple of reasons: cost (especially considered within the context of what seems to be a pretty consistent durability issue), and to have a rock plate or enough cushion not to need one. Topos seemed promising, but I tried a couple on and they felt pretty restrictive from mid foot forward. My feet aren’t wide, but I have high arches (no issues as of now; plantar fasciitis et al). Cascadias and/or Calderas seem like they might be worth a shot. Any other ideas I should consider? Zero drop is not a requirement BTW.
Do you have a running store near you? If so, they’ll do an assessment of your feet and can help you pick a brand that would be compatible with your foot. FWIW, I think Saucony and Hoka are good for people with tall arches. Also, the same running store may have insoles that could help as well.
Best of luck on the search!
