Hi everyone!
I wouldn’t mind any advice on things I might be missing from my gear list.

Jul 3, 2018 at 9:54 am #3545006It looks pretty good – I was going to comment on the lack of TP until I saw your note at the top to remember it. A couple of minor things:
- You don’t indicate the length of your trip…I think you were planning a 2-week trip
- Throw in a backup lighter – you specify one that is half full. A mini-Bic weighs almost nothing and you should probably keep one away from your kitchen gear (FAK)
- Your pad, given the rest of your UL gear choices, seems pretty heavy – You could drop 10+ ounces (and some significant $$$ if you haven’t already bought it) by going to a Z-Rest
Jul 3, 2018 at 6:51 pm #3545050This is just a general gear list, that I would do for say 4-8 days worth of section hiking. The Food and water will vary depending on the journeys needs.
Will do on the lighter, was just planning on getting on at w.e gas station I stop at during the beginning. I always grab some snacks and and a drink or 2 before I head out.
In regards to my pad, that is a brand new Big Agnes SLX and its a upgrade from a old 2007 Big Agnes pad I had which I think is a thicker material with a slightly high r value, but it is 2.5″ and narrow and shorter than the new one which is wider longer and lighter so its a great trade off for the comfort I need.

Jul 5, 2018 at 12:37 am #3545229Yeah should be doing a gear breakdown in a thread somewhere on here or over at white blaze, I should be ready in about a day if Im not lazy. Dont have a camera but prefer pictures and words anyways. But other than that I have all my gear food bag packed and ready to go. Just need some more pretrip planning like mileage I will do each day and campsites and what not.
Jul 5, 2018 at 11:31 am #3545262There’s a piece of software that I’ve used for similar trips along the AT called Appalachian Trail Mate. It’s $11.95 for the full version, but it’s really flexible based on your parameters and makes it pretty easy to plan your trip. Something to consider.
Jul 5, 2018 at 12:07 pm #3545263Maybe look into a lighter knife, I use the Gerber Ultralight LST Fine Edge [06050] which weighs .53oz on my scale. I got it for like $13 on Amazon, easy way to save a few ounces and it’s still a decent blade, I rarely use it but if I do it’s better than the swiss army knife that a bunch of people use in my opinion.
