I’m scheduled to be in Boise for business during the second week of June this year and again in August. As I’m unfamiliar with the area, I’m seeking recommendations for a nearby 4-5 day trail, preferably a loop no  more than a 5 hour drive. I’d rather avoid postholing, and given that this year appears to be experiencing heavy snowfall, I’d appreciate any suggestions ya’ll may have.

In August look into Sawtooth Lake Loop, Alice Lake and/or Redfish Lake. All up around Stanley, approx 3 hrs from Boise. As far as June? Maybe somewhere around McCall but good luck with all the snow. Even some closer, local places I used to go (Bogus Basin) won’t be thawed by then.

I’m not all that familiar with Boise area, but the good places like Sawtooths will be pretty snowy in June.  Hells Canyon melts out early.
