Just made this pack this past weekend and figured I’d post it up here to get some feedback and see what everyone thinks. This is the first time I have worked with either Dynema X or Hyper D 300 and I have to say that they were both great to work with. The grid pattern on the Dyneema X was especially nice when cutting/sewing as it gives you (mostly) straight lines to go off of. The most tricky part was getting the straps/hipbelt to look good. I think next time I’ll forego the edging around the straps and hipbelt and make them more along the lines of an MLD pack.
The pack is about 50 liters and when stripped it weighs about 13.5oz, the weight with shock cord and hipbelt pockets is exactly 16oz. I took it out and walked for about two hours with about 30lbs in it and it carried it surprisingly well. There was some tug on my shoulders but that is to be expected with a frameless pack. I mainly just wanted to test the structural integrity of the pack by loading it up with a decent amount of weight and it held up wonderfully.
All in all I’m very happy with how the pack turned out and with how it carries. I also plan on getting ahold of some Cuben soon and doing a similar pack with that in place of the Hyper D 300. I’ve really caught the MYOG bug recently and I am somewhat obsessed with making gear right now!

I am in awe of people who MYOG packs!
Jan 18, 2016 at 4:35 pm #3376518Nice job. Very similar to what I did with the roll top/buckle closure and Y strap over the top.
Jan 18, 2016 at 6:19 pm #3376530Yeah I actually ended up adding a ladder lock to the “V” strap on top so its now adjustable.
I also added a removable back pad and aluminum stays that bring the pack up to 22.5oz.

Did you use any type of pattern or draw it up yourself?
Apr 17, 2016 at 8:19 pm #3396521Well you wanted to know what we think….so if you can’t tell yet…
We LIKE it!!!
Great colors and design. You pretty much covered the features I look for in a pack.
Enjoy!
